To all old geezers out there, here are some of my favorite things in Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic!Īge of Wonders: Shadow Magic was the first title in the series to come with "editor tools" to change the base game itself. I finally got my favorite game in the franchise to run in my notebook again, and decided I should post some pictures of "old school" AoW here in the forums - maybe get some discussion about the old games' strengths going! Also, the idea about provinces is pretty good ).I'm anxiously awaiting for AoW 4 to come - here's hoping it can become the "definitive" AoW experience the designers want it to be! ^^ Well, HOMM3 editor is completely fine, it can easily be used to make Game of Thrones scenario. You could probably even treat the surface as an overworld map and dedicate certain layers to certain providences/sub-regions/super-city districts/expansive dungeons/etc. Supposedly, you can do a bunch of 'depths' layers in AoW3 as well, so you could really get creative with custom layers/planes as well if you really wanted to. Not sure how that's supported with AoW3 it was quite robust in AoW2/SM. Renaming units and changing stats of normal units would probably require custom resources/a mod though. If you wanted to and had the time to dedicate to, I imagine a Game of Thrones scenario would be entirely possible. That said, you can create your very own custom items, heroes, and script in some interesting triggers/events.
